Very nice read - but as for Nr.1 - you talk about the quantity of twitter followers... but don't explain how it affects the post frequency.

Recent studies has shown that just 8% of Twitter users follow more then 50 people. This will make frequent updates very annoying very quickly. Post less is the msg.

Very keen observations. As more people have become accustom to interactivity on the web thanks to social media platforms and smart phone applications, the "old" way of doing things on web are not going to get the same attention they did. People want to interact, push the buttons, and leave their mark on the digital world.

One additional method we are deploying for a client is a survey that will require an email address for the results and how the respondent measured up to others.

I like the thought of changing the statement on forms to questions. I once overheard a trainer at a fast food restaurant tell the trainees that when a customer placed an order the response is, "Will one be enough?" when appropriate. The order process is now more active and less passive and the simple question causes engagement and a chance to sell more products.

Poor follow up can certainly sink the ship, we like to incorporate auto-responders in addition to thank-you pages that make an offer sometimes. ("Will one be enough?")

Although the buzz about social media seems to have proliferated every thing I see and hear these days, I am still pretty shocked by the number of local businesses that have not gotten anywhere near it as a tool for business. I am quite sure the same kinds of trepidation over getting into a locomotive, a car, or an airplane when they first arrived on the transportation scene were not uncommon.

It is hard to tell people where to start and this post is a great example of using LinkedIn to drive interaction. At Technology Workgroup we like to explain social media using the the "5 C’s" Just like buying diamonds there are things you must have to make the best choices.

Thanks Mr. Brown for taking the fear out of social media and helping others using these great user created content platforms.
